Several Hornets advance

LANCASTER — The Division III regional track meet’s first day sent several members of the Coal Grove Hornets and Lady Hornets to the second day.

The Hornets 4×100-meter relay team of Alex Bare, Bryan Steele, Mason Nance and Austin Ruggles ran a 44.96 time to reach the finals.

The Lady Hornets’ 4×200 relay team of Ashley Adkins, Jacy Jones, Leslie Mulkey and Bailey Harrison was sixth at 1:53.34 and qualified for the finals.

Mulkey was seventh in the 400 meters at 1:03.10 to make the finals.

There were several finals held including the discus. The Hornets’ Austen Pleasants was seventh with a toss of 133-feet.
