Charles Pancake

Charles Robert (Bob) Pancake, 63, of Kitts Hill, passed away at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky., on Aug. 10, 2013, after a recurrence of cancer.

Born on Dec. 19, 1949, to William Oscar and Mandy Fern Blevins Pancake, Bob attended the Green Township school system. He was a United States Navy veteran who held the job of a pipe fitter in the service and received a National Defense Service Medal for service to his country during the years of 1969 through 1971. Upon his honorable discharge from the Navy, he attended Jackson Ohio Vocational Trade School and graduated as a heating, ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) technician and began working for Birch Distributors in South Point. At his death, he was employed as a supply/parts manager at General Heating and Air Conditioning in Flatwoods, Ky., where he worked for the last 24 years. He was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends and supporting his favorite football team, the Cleveland Browns. Bob had one child named Ari Suzanne with his former wife, Beverly Spillman.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, William Oscar and Mandy Fern Blevins Pancake, and two brothers, Henry and Harold Pancake, all of Ironton.

He is survived by a daughter and son-in law, Ari and James Chafin and three grandchildren: Savannah, Alyssa and Elijah, all of South Point; three sisters – Jean E. Shope of Ironton, Judy Delong of Kitts Hill, and Debbie Boggess of Chillicothe; and two brothers – Roy Dale Pancake of Ironton and Billy Joe Pancake of Barboursville, W.Va., and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point on Thursday at 2 p.m. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. He will be laid to rest in Woodland Cemetery, with Brother Tom Lawson officiating.

Albert Hilgenberg, 86, of Ironton, died Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2013. at his residence. Arrangements are pending at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, Ironton.
