Rock Hill season tickets now on sale

Rock Hill Redmen season football tickets are now on sale. Anyone interested should stop by the high school or contact athletic director Barry Litteral at (740) 532-7012 ext. 11513.

 

OVC football plans preview on Saturday

The Ohio Valley Conference will holds its annual football preview on Saturday at Coal Grove High School.

Tickets are $5 at the gate. Here is the schedule:

6:00 River Valley vs. Fairland; 7:00 Rock Hill vs. Chesapeake; 8:00 South Point vs. Coal Grove.

SOC volleyball plans preview on Aug. 17

The Southern Ohio Conference girls’ volleyball preview will be held Saturday, Aug. 17, at Wheelersburg High School.

Matches begin at 11 a.m. Admission is $5.

Here is the schedule:

Wheelersburg vs. Eastern; South Webster vs. Green; Northwest vs. Sciotoville East; Portsmouth West vs. Western; Waverly vs. Symmes Valley; Oak Hill vs. Portsmouth Clay; Minford vs. Portsmouth Notre Dame; Lucasville Valley vs. New Boston.

 

Ironton chapter will hold officiating class

The Ironton Chapter of Basketball Officials and the Ohio High School Athletic Association. will conduct an OHSAA basketball officiating class beginning at 9 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Chesaspeake Middle School.

Fee is $140 and must be paid when registering online at www.OHSAA.org

SP boosters hosting golf scramble Aug. 25

The South Point athletic boosters will sponsor a benefit golf scramble on Sunday, Aug. 25, at Diamond Links Golf Course in Catlettsburg, Ky.

Registration begins at 12:15 p.m. with a 1 p.m. shotgun start.

Fee is $60 per player. Meal will be catered by Texas Roadhouse. There will be door prizes and comparative awards. All fees go to the boosters.

River Cities refs will hold officiating class

The River Cities Basketball Officials Association is offering its annual training class from individuals who want to become a registered basketball official.

Classes begin at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 2, at Chesapeake High School. The class is approved by the Ohio High School Athletic Association and West Virginia Secondary Schools Activities Commission.

Fee is $85 plus the state registration fees that are $65 for Ohio and $42 for West Virginia.

If registering and from Ohio, persons must first register online with the OHSAA and pay your fee by credit card. No other form of payment is accepted. Persons should go to OHSAA.org and click “officiating” and then “becoming an official.”

All other fees must be paid within the first two class sessions.

Individuals must be 18 and no longer in high school. However, those in high school may register but are limited to the types of games they may officiate.

Classes are three hours on Mondays and Wednesday for seven weeks. A rules exam will be given upon the completion of the class.
