Pointers top OVC in soccer; Lady Dragons win

GALLIPOLIS — The South Point Pointers remained unbeaten with a 6-0 soccer rout of the Ohio Valley Christian Defenders Thursday.

Trey Kearns had a pair of goals and an assist for the Pointers while goalie Brady Rickard recorded six saves in the shutout win.

Ryan Khounlavong and Marq Harris also had unassisted goals for the Pointers. Gage Stevens scored a goal with an assist from Kearns and Jeremiah Kipp also had a goal with an assist from Liam Huff.

OVC goalkeeper Marshall Hood had 13 saves.

South Point (4-0) hosts East Carter at 8 p.m. on Tuesday.

Lady Dragons win

PEDRO — The Fairland Lady Dragons picked up their second Ohio Valley Conference volleyball win with a tough straight sets win over the Rock Hill Redwomen Thursday.

Fairland (3-2, 2-0) won the match 25-22, 25-22 and 25-17.

Kelsey Riley had 9 points to lead the Lady Dragons scoring while Elizabeth Wilds had 9 points for Rock Hill.

In the reserve match, Fairland won 25-16, 25-18 as Nicole Wagner scored 13 points. Morgan Harper had 7 points for the Redwomen.

Fairland hosts Chesapeake Tuesday in a league match.
