Phyllis Crabtree

Phyllis Ann Crabtree, 77, of Kitts Hill, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 24, 2013, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Forestdale native was born June 8, 1936, the daughter of the late Orville and Faye Bryant Wilson. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Oscar “Crabbie” Crabtree, who passed away Aug. 15, 2006.

Mrs. Crabtree was a 1954 graduate of Ironton High School, a homemaker and of the Baptist faith. She lived in Kitts Hill for the last 53 years and in Lawrence County all her life.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a daughter, Penny Crabtree; two sisters, Sadie Maxie and Alice Crawford; three brothers, Ernest Wilson, Tom Wilson and Roy Wilson; and a stepson, Roger Crabtree.

She is survived by son, Tom “Bud” and Cassie Crabtree of Kitts Hill; son, Oscar Jr. “Snook”  and Sharon Crabtree of Kitts Hill; son, Clifford and Debbie Crabtree of Ironton; daughter, Patty and Tony Scanlon of Hamersville; eight grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and two stepsons, Gary Crabtree of Chillicothe and Jeff Crabtree of Ironton.

Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at Phillips Funeral Home with Pastor John Paul Patterson officiating. Burial will follow in the Crabtree Family Cemetery and visitation will be Sunday from noon until the time of the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Community

James Basaldua

James Granado Basaldua, 52, of Ashland, Ky., died on Friday, Sept. 20, 2013, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. Burial will be at a later date.  Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods, Ky., is in charge of arrangements.
