Repurposing any land can help provide economic value for the community, but it can also provide value for our quality of life as well.

The recent partnership with the Ironton-Lawrence County Community Action Organization, Ironton In Bloom and St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus achieves both goals.

The three organizations recently partnered with Cub Scout Pack 106, various 4-H clubs that include the Lawrence County Copperheads, County Clovers, and Clodhoppers as well as the Rock Hill Garden Club. All volunteered their time to ensure that an area that may have otherwise been vacant can thrive with beauty for years to come.

This not only serves the purpose of aesthetics at the St. Mary’s campus, but it can also lift the spirits of someone who may be visiting the campus for a medical reason or someone just passing by.

These plants may not have a visual impact immediately, but the research and plant choices will allow the beauty to be enjoyed for the foreseeable future.

We commend all of the organizations and volunteers for taking the time and energy to complete something that will truly benefit Ironton and Lawrence County.
