BOCA RATON, Fla. (AP) — Justin Haig kicked a 41-yard field goal as time expired to give Marshall a 24-23 comeback win over Florida Atlantic on Saturday.

Marshall (4-2, 2-0 Conference USA) trailed by as many as 9 in the fourth quarter but cut FAU’s lead to 23-21 with 6:47 to play on a 41-yard touchdown pass from Rakeem Cato to Gator Hoskins on 4th and 5.

After forcing FAU (2-5, 1-4) to punt, Marshall began its final drive at its own 9-yard line with 2:19 left. Highlighted by a 35-yard completion from Rakeem Cato to Devon Smith, Cato led the Thundering Herd 67 yards down the field to setup the game-winning score. Cato finished with 216 yards passing and 45 yards rushing.

Earlier, Marshall scored on a 77-yard punt return by Devon Smith and a 1-yard run by Kevin Grooms.

Jaquez Johnson threw a touchdown pass and ran for another score for FAU.
