A new bowl game will be played in Nassau, starting in 2014. The Bahamas Bowl will be part of a series bowls shared by the Mid-American Conference, American Athletic Conference, Sun Belt, Mountain West and Conference USA.

The game will be played at Thomas A. Robinson Stadium, likely before Christmas, and the deal with the conferences runs for six years.

The MAC will be the anchor team for the first four seasons. The American will provide the opponent for the MAC in 2014 and ’16. Conference USA will send a team to the game in 2015 and the Sun Belt in 2017. The matchups for 2018 and ’19 are to be determined.

Last week, the leagues announced a similar arrangement with a new bowl in Boca Raton, Fla., to be played at Florida Atlantic University’s stadium.

The conferences are expected to soon announce the creation of another game to be played at Marlins Park in Miami and anchored by the American Athletic Conference.

The addition of those three games will give the Mid-American five guaranteed bowl spots from 2014-2019, along with the GoDaddy Bowl in Mobile, Ala., Famous Idaho Potato Bowl in Boise and Camellia Bowl in San Diego.
