Robert Griffith

Robert Eugene Griffith, 83, of Ironton, passed away Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at St. Mary’s Medical Center Ironton Campus. The Lawrence County native was born Dec. 20, 1929, a son to the late Fred and Lula (Oaks) Griffith. Mr. Griffith was also preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Katherine (Dalton) Griffith, who passed away in 2001, and his second wife, Carol Sue (Dalton) Griffith, who passed away in April 2010.

Mr. Griffith was a United States Army veteran who served his country in the Korean War. Bob went on to work as director of Lawrence County Veterans’ Services. He was also a member of LaGrange Freewill Baptist Church in Ironton.

Bob is survived by two sons, Jim (Mary) Wipert, of Ironton, and Jeff (Tina) Crabtree, of Ironton; five grandchildren, Angie Bonavita, of Cincinnati, Robert Erin Wipert, of Ironton; Robert Crabtree, of Ironton; Jeffrey Crabtree, of Ironton; and Joseph Crabtree, of Ironton; a sister, Lagathia Faye “Gay” Thompson, of Ironton; and numerous nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wives, Bob is preceded in death by two brothers, Charles Fredrick “Pete” Griffith, and William Ellis “Bill” Griffith; two sisters, Alaphine Sisler and Juanita Messenger; and a stepson, Charles Wipert.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Pastor Aaron Abner officiating. Interment will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites by VFW post No. 8850. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home.

Barbara Sue Daniel Tackett, 73, of Mineral, Va., formerly of Flatwoods, Ky., died Sunday, Oct. 20, 2013, at Spotsylvania Regional Medical Center in Spotsylvania, Va. Arrangements are pending at Bailey Family Funeral Home.

 

 

Daniel Compliment

Daniel (Dan) Joseph Compliment, 63, of Coal Grove, died on Friday, Oct. 18, 2013, at home. Graveside service will be in Calvary Cemetery at 10 a.m. Thursday with Father David Huffman officiating. Arrangments are under the direction of O’Keefe-Baker Funeral Home.
