PROCTORVILLE — It was a night to clinch.

By blanking the Rock Hill Redmen 27-0 Friday, the Fairland Dragons clinched their fists as they clinched at least a share of the Ohio Valley Conference title, a winning season and a Division V Region 17 playoff berth.

Fairland is 6-3 overall and 4-0 in the OVC with a home game next Friday against River Valley, 1-7 overall and 0-4 in the league, to close out the regular season.

The Dragons are currently sixth in Region 17. The playoff pairings have No. 1 vs. No. 8, No. 2 vs. No. 7, No. 3 vs. No. 6, and No. 4 vs. No. 5. The top four teams in the region get a first round home game.

The game was scoreless after the first quarter, but the Dragons erupted for 20 points in the second quarter. Their final score came in the fourth quarter against the gritty Redmen (1-8, 1-3).

Fairland rolled up 235 yards rushing and quarterback Chance Short was 14-of-27 for 127 yards and a touchdown.

Evan Maddox led the ground game with 99 yards on 13 carries and a touchdown. Kobe Woodall had 51 yards on four attempts and Nathan Campbell 46 yards on four carries and a touchdown.

Derrick Wills caught four passes for 36 yards, Campbell had four grabs for 32 yards and a score, and Kyle Sowards two receptions for 23 yards.

Clayton Edmonds had 12 tackles — 10 solo stops — and De’Vonte Braye seven to lead the defense. Willis and Maddox had 6.5 tackles each and Sowards six tackles and an interception.
