Bobcats dominate Evansville; ETSU tops Herd

ATHENS (AP) — Nick Kellogg scored 13 points and three teammates scored in double digits Saturday as Ohio dominated Evansville in an 81-59 win.

Ricardo Johnson and Javarez Willis each scored 12 for Ohio (6-1) and Travis Wilkins added 10. Kellogg scored three 3-pointers and the Bobcats outshot the Aces 48.4 percent from the field to 37.7 percent.

Egidijus Mockevicius led Evansville (5-2) with a game-high 19 points and 9 rebounds and D.J. Balentine added 15 points.

Mockevicius scored four quick points but Ohio went on a 7-point first-half run and raced away, leading 42-26 at halftime. Evansville’s defense stiffened in the second half and the Aces at one point scored 10 unanswered points, but Ohio dominated, winning the rebound battle 40-31 and making 11 of 14 free-throw attempts.

Ohio now has won four straight games. Kellogg needs just 21 points to become the 36th 1,000-point scorer in Ohio history.

ETSU 88, Marshall 78

JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (AP) — Kinard Gadsden-Gilliard scored 19 points and Hunter Harris had 17 points and 13 rebounds as East Tennessee State topped Marshall 88-78 on Saturday as part of the Roundball Showcase.

Harris was 8 of 9 from the field as the Buccaneers (3-5) shot 53.6 percent. Lester Wilson and Rashawn Rembert each added 13 points for ETSU.

Down 11-9 in the first half, the Buccaneers scored 10 straight points to take a 19-11 lead and never trailed again. ETSU led by as many as 16 early in the second but Marshall (4-3) cut it to 72-69 with 5:10 to play. ETSU then went on a 12-5 run to extend its lead to 84-74.

Marshall shot just 18 of 35 from the free-throw line and was 6 of 30 on 3-pointers. Kareem Canty led Marshall with 19 points and Ryan Taylor grabbed 14 rebounds.
