GALLIPOLIS — Variety is the spice of life. It’s also the key to winning for the South Point Lady Pointers.

The Lady Pointers showed more variety in their scoring as they beat the Gallipolis Blue Angels 48-35 Monday.

Brett Justice had 17 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Lady Pointers (6-1). Abbey Winkler had 8 points and 7 rebounds while Brooklyn Badgett added 7 points as eight different players scored.

“We’ve been pretty balanced. We have a different leading scorer about every night. I hope it stays that way,” said Lady Pointers’ coach Dave Adams.

Kendra Barnes had 17 points for Gallipolis (3-5).

Justice scored 8 points and Brooklyn Badgett 4 more as South Point opened up a 15-6 first quarter lead.

Five different players scored in the second quarter as the Lady Pointers outscored the Blue Angels 12-6 and it was 27-14 at the half.

“We played pretty good defensively. We held them to only 12 points in the first half,” said Adams.

Justice had 6 points in the third quarter to help offset 9 points by Kendra Barnes — she hit three 3-pointers — and the South Point lead was 42-24.

The Lady Pointers began to play their backups in the fourth quarter. Micah Curfman scored 6 points for Gallipolis.

South Point will host Cross Lanes Christian Friday.
