PROCTORVILLE — The number “13” proved to be lucky for the Fairland Lady Dragons.

Trailing early in the fourth quarter, Fairland used a 13-0 run in the fourth quarter to rally past the Logan Lady Chieftains 65-57 Saturday.

“We didn’t defend that poorly, we just didn’t take care of the ball and that led to them getting some runouts,” said Fairland coach Jon Buchanan.

“But Logan is athletic. They’re a nice team and they gave us some problems.”

Fairland’s 6-foot-4 senior center Terra Stapleton led the comeback and keyed the victory with a 25-point, 13 rebounds performance. Chandler Fulks added 13 points for the Lady Dragons who are now 6-1.

Mackenzie Riley grabbed 9 rebounds and Kelsey Riley had 7 rebounds and 5 assists for the Lady Dragons who were 18-of-27 from the foul line.

Logan (5-4) led by six points twice and went up 49-46 on a bank shot by Paige Davis with 6:39 to play.

But the Lady Dragons turned to Stapleton who scored eight points as they ran off 13 unanswered points and pulled away to a 59-49 lead with less than two minutes to play.

Logan — held scoreless for nearly five minutes — managed to get within five points with less than a minute left, but Fairland held on for the win.

“When we were able to sit down and play halfcourt defense, they had trouble,” said Buchanan.

Fairland led 17-12 at the end of the first quarter before Logan came back to led 34-30 at the break.

The Lady Dragons outscored Logan 14-11 in the third quarter and trailed 45-44 and set up the fourth quarter comeback.

Taylor Myers scored 19 points and Paige Davis 14 for Logan. Ashley Frasure and Allison McNeal had 10 each.
