WILLOW WOOD — Getting their work done early allowed the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings to get some time off.

The Lady Vikings built a 21-point halftime lead and went on to beat the Green Lady Bobcats 53-27 Thursday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“We did a nice job early with the press. We were able to work on some things tonight with our bench and we got good minutes out of everyone,” said Lady Vikings’ coach Brandon Walker.

“I thought we shot the ball well tonight, but we need to penetrate more as well as crash the boards.”

Kalli Hunt and Elly Fulks scored 14 points each to lead the Lady Vikings (4-7, 3-4) who had eight different players score.

Madi Applegate scored 12 points and Jessica Patrick had eight points to lead Green (2-10, 1-7).

Hunt scored eight points and Fulks scored six as Symmes Valley bolted to a 21-7 first quarter lead.

Fulks scored six points and Hannah Maynard had five points including a 3-pointer as the Lady Vikings outscored Green 19-12 in the second quarter and built a 40-19 halftime cushion.

The Lady Vikings defense held Green to just a field goal in the third quarter and extended the lead to 49-21.

Hunt got four points early in the third quarter and then the Lady Vikings began to empty their bench.
