The St. Joseph Female Flyers like what they’re doing.

The Female Flyers had another solid team performance as they beat the Coal Grove Lady Hornets 59-44 on Tuesday.

“Again, we had good contributions from a lot of people. It was a good team effort,” said St. Joseph coach Nick Miller.

“It was just a nice win. We played pretty well and Coal Grove is an athletic team.”

Hannah Miller scored 19 points and Lynsey Booker had 14 points to pace the Female Flyers (14-6).

Jacy Jones scored 20 points to lead Coal Grove (7-14).

Hannah Miller hit a pair of 3-pointers and Booker scored four points in the first quarter as St. Joseph took an 11-9 lead. Jones had six points for the Lady Hornets.

St. Joseph held the Lady Hornets to three points in the second quarter. Bri Bridges and Booker scored four each as five different players scored.

Coal Grove’s Leah Crum and Miller traded 3-pointers to end the half and St. Joseph was up 26-12 at the break.

Coal Grove began to hit shots in the third quarter as Jones scored 10 points including a pair of triples and Leslie Mulkey had four points as the Lady Hornets cut the deficit to 40-31.

Amber Neal, Bridges and Booker all scored four points each for the Female Flyers in the quarter.

In the fourth quarter, Miller had eight points — she was 6-of-6 from the foul line — and Haley Bartram scored five points including a trey.

Summer Willis and Jones combined for nine points for the Lady Hornets.

St. Joseph boys and girls will host Fairview on Saturday at Coal Grove High School. The Flyer boys host Portsmouth Notre Dame Wednesday.
