FRANKLIN FURNACE — Three out of four ain’t bad, except with that fourth one is really bad.

Green held a one-point lead after three quarter but had five fourth quarter turnovers and some missed free throws in a 68-60 Southern Ohio Conference loss to the Sciotoville East Tartans Friday.

“Turnovers and missed free throws killed us,” said Green coach Bobby Blanton. “We had our chances. We played hard and we played physical. We’re improving every day.”

Green (3-16, 1-11) lost despite an outstanding performance by Trent Marcum who had 31 points and eight rebounds. Ryan Gaffney scored a career-high 15 points and had six rebounds.

Drew Lowe scored 17 points, Akia Brown 16 and Tyler Gerald 10 for East.

Marcum and Gaffney combined for nine points in the first quarter as Green led 11-10. Lowe had six points for East.

Brown had 10 points and Lowe hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored eight points in the second quarter as East took a 36-27 lead at the half. Marcum scored nine pints in the quarter including a pair of triples. Caleb Johnson also hit a 3-pointer for Green.

Marcum scored 11 points in the third quarter and Johnson had another trey as Green rallied to take a 45-44 lead.

But the Tartans made 13-of-19 free throws in the fourth quarter and outscored Green 24-15. Marcum hit a pair of 3-pointers and Gaffney scored five points.

Green hosts New Boston Tuesday in a “Brain Cancer Awareness” game.
