Michael Riggle

Michael Allen Riggle, 44, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Community Hospice Care Center, Ashland, Ky. The Ironton native was born Feb. 6, 1970, to Thomas F. Riggle, Jr. and Betty L. (Jones) Riggle who survives and his wife of nine years, Luci P. Riggle (Aguilera).
Michael was a 1988 graduate of Dawson Bryant High School and was an Air Transportation Manager in the United States Air Force and received his bachelor’s degree in business management while in the service. Michael served his country proudly and to the best of his ability for 22 years and retired in 2010. He loved to hunt and fish and was a Ohio State Buckeyes fan. He also attended Tri-State Baptist Temple in South Point.
Michael was preceded in death by paternal grandparents, Thomas and Betty Riggle, Sr. and maternal grandparents, Emerson “Sug” and Mildred Sierer and James Harlan Jones.
In addition to his wife and parents, Michael is also survived by four children, Victor Aguilera, Helen Aguilera, Jasson Aguilera, and Vasti Aguilera, all of Ironton; four siblings, Victor (Jamie) Riggle of Ironton, Christina Riggle of Ironton, James “J.T.” Riggle of South Point and Angela Riggle of Georgetown, Ky; his mother and father in-law, Maria Acosta and Santos Aguilera of Honduras; three nieces, Lakynn Jones of Coal Grove, Hannah and Sarah Riggle of Ironton; one nephew, Tanner Bellomy of Indian; and two brothers-in-law, Walther Aguilera and Mauricio Aguilera both of Honduras.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesdayat the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home, with Pastors Brad Jenkins and Tim Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow in the veterans section of Woodland Cemetery, Ironton. Military Rites will be conducted by the VFW Post 8850. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m.

Mavis Murnahan

Mavis Marie (Witt) Murnahan, 87, of Ironton, passed away Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Jo-Lin Nursing Center, Ironton. Mavis was born in Sherburn, Minn. to the late Carl and Alice (Krusemark) Witt on Oct. 17, 1926.
Mavis was a 1944 graduate of Ironton High School and was a homemaker. She also was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary for the VFW and the Lunch Bunch. Mavis was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Doyle Murnahan, whom she married Feb. 27, 1946, and was married for 62 years until his passing on Jan. 3, 2009; three brothers, Reuben Witt, Leroy Witt, and Russell Witt and one sister, Viola (Witt) O’Leary.
Mavis is survived by five children, Phillip Doyle (Janet) Murnahan of Ironton, Jeffery Lee Murnahan of Ironton, Jerry (Mary) Murnahan of Ironton, Jami Ann Holschuh of Chester, Va., and Joni Marie (Bob) Assar of Ashland, Ky; seven grandchildren, Brandi (Yugo) Murnahan Petrov of Chester, Va., Mindy (Josh) Murnahan Gay of Chester, Va., Amy (Will) Pierce of Chester, Va., Jeri Rae (Brandon) Bridges of Hamilton,  Chuck (Brynn) Murnahan of Ironton, Anna (Matt) Mull of Chester, Va., Isabella Marie Assar of Ashland, Ky.; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Niota (Tootie) Spicer of Ironton; and one brother, Alden Witt of Nashua, N.H.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home with Pastor David Ritchie officiating. Burial will follow at Woodland Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11a.m. until the time of the service on Tuesday. Pallbearers will be Yugo Petrov, Josh Gay, Will Pierce, Brandon Bridges, Chuck Murnahan, Matt Mull.

Kathy Sullivan
Kathy Sullivan, 61, of Crown City, died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2014, at Hospice House of Huntington. She was the wife of Mark Sullivan who survives. Arrangements are pending at Hall Funeral Home.

Florence Boyd
Florence L. Boyd, 85, of South Point, died Friday, Feb. 7, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. She was the wife of Keith Boyd, who survives. Arrangements are pending at Phillips Funeral Home.
