Toledo tops Ohio, 82-76

TOLEDO (AP) — Rian Pearson scored 29 points and Toledo defeated Ohio 82-76 Wednesday night.

The victory kept the Rockets (21-3, 9-2) atop the Mid-American Conference’s West Division while Ohio (17-7, 7-4) dropped into second place in the East behind co-leaders Akron and Buffalo.

The Rockets had lost at Ohio 95-90 in overtime on Feb. 1.

Pearson hit 12 of 18 shots for his 29 points, one short of his career high. Julius Brown added 17 points.

Nick Kellogg led Ohio with 21 points, making 4 of 11 3-point attempts to move into second place all-time at Ohio with 260. Travis Wilkins added 17 points, making 5 of 7 3-pointers.Jon Smith grabbed 11 rebounds to go with 10 points.

Kellogg made two free throws to get Ohio within four with 37 seconds left but then missed a 3-pointer. Julius Brown, fouled on the rebound, made two free throws to ensure Toledo’s win.
