NEW BOSTON — The Symmes Valley Vikings got out to a fast start and couldn’t stop.

The Vikings scored 60 points in the first half and all 14 players scored as they crushed the New Boston Tigers 96-28 Wednesday in a Southern Ohio Conference game.

“We played pretty well. We were ready and didn’t want to let anyone sneak up on us. That was evident because we came out of the shoot really well,” said Vikings’ coach Donnie Saunders.

Tyler Rowe scored 22 points to lead four Vikings in double figures. Jonathan Kouns scored 16, Kurt Adams had 15 points on five 3-pointers and Dylan Malone had 11 points.

Symmes Valley is now 12- overall and 10-3 in the SOC. The Vikings need a win at Sciotoville East on Friday and for Portsmouth Notre Dame to beat Beaver Eastern to leave the league race in a three-way tie for the title.

Kouns had 12 of his points and Adams hit two 3-pointers in the first quarter as the Vikings jumped out to a 28-10 lead.

Rowe scored 10 points, Malone had nine and Adams knocked down two more triples in the second quarter as the lead ballooned to 60-15 at the half.

Rowe scored seven points early in the third quarter and Saunders began emptying his bench.

In the reserve game, the junior Vikings (18-1) won 56-29 as Collin Webb and Payton Hayes had 11 each. Porter scored 10 for New Boston.
