Eddie Rawlins

Morris Edward (Eddie) Rawlins, 70 of Ironton passed away Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center in Ashland, KY after a long illness.

Eddie was born in Ironton, on April 11, 1943, the eldest child of the late Thomas and Phyllis (Werner) Rawlins. He attended 10th Street Tabernacle as a child.

After Eddie returned from the U.S. Navy, he was employed at Dayton Malleable Iron where he worked for 27 years. Later he and his wife Lena opened R & R Bike and Gift Shop in Ironton for 14 years. When Eddie retired, he still enjoyed tinkering with watches and taking care of his many loyal customers who referred to him as the “Battery Man.”

He is survived by his loving wife of 38 years, Lena (Collins) Rawlins; twin sons, Cody Edward Rawlins and Cory Edward Rawlins at home; son, Morris Edward (Eddie) Rawlins II and wife Paula of Ironton; son Shawn Michal Rawlins of Ironton; daughter Carla Rae Phillips of Ironton; six grandchildren, Michael Phillips, Katie Phillips, Jessica Weaver, Jake Rawlins, Jenna Rawlins, Chase Rawlins; a sister, Ruth Carpenter and her husband Norman; two brothers, Larry Rawlins of Claysville, Pa. and Tom Rawlins and his wife (Haung) of Vietnam; one aunt, Dorothy Werner of Ironton; sister-in-law, Betsy Rawlins; brothers-in-law, Dennis E. Collins, Bradley Collins of Ironton and his wife Cassandra; and a special brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Ray and Jodi Rowe Collins; and a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and friends who will miss him.

Eddie was also preceded in death by his brother Charlie Rawlins of Ironton

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor J.R. Ferguson officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery with military graveside rites provided by VFW 8850. Visitation will be Saturday at 11 a.m. until time of the service. Carol Weber

Carol Ann Weber, 66, of Chesapeake, died Tuesday, Feb. 25, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center. She is survived by her husband, John Raymond Weber. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Union Missionary Baptist Church, Chesapeake, Ohio by Pastor Randy See. Homer Mays

Homer Franklin Mays, 86, of Wilmington, N.C., formerly of Chesapeake, died Saturday, March 1, 2014, at Azalea Health and Rehabilitation, Wilmington, N.C.

Funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at Hall Funeral Home, Proctorville. Burial will follow in Rome Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mary White

Mary K. Kleykamp-White, 89 of Ashland, Ky., died on Thursday, March 06, 2014 at Community Hospice Care Center. There will be a graveside service at Bellefonte Memorial Gardens in Flatwoods, Ky., on Saturday at 2 p.m. with pastors Larry Puyear and Clell Lucas officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods.

Herbert Holland, 84, of Columbus, formerly of Proctorville, died Monday, March 3, 2014, at Mt. Carmel West Hospital, Columbus. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Saturday at Newcomer Funeral Home and Crematory, SW Chapel, 3393 Broadway, Grove City.
