Timothy McFarland

Timothy Dwayne McFarland, 51, of Ironton, died on Sunday, March 30, 2014, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. The Massachusetts native was born Sept. 5, 1962, a son of Rodney and Wilma McDowell McFarland, of Ironton. He is also survived by his wife of 32 years, Margo Husovsky McFarland, whom he married March 23, 1981.

Tim was a 1980 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a former electronic tech in communication and radar for the FAA and loved to travel and golf.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Charles “Chuck” McFarland.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is also survived by two sons, Timothy D. McFarland Jr. and James “Levi” McFarland, both of Ironton; two brothers, Rodney and Cathy McFarland, of Ironton, Steven “Boo” and Kathy McFarland, of Acworth, Ga.; and a host of nieces and nephews

Memorial service will be 7 p.m. today at Phillips Funeral Home with minister Chad Pemberton officiating. Visitation will be today from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Juanita Alexander

Juanita J. Haley Alexander, 90, of South Point, peacefully passed away on Saturday, March 29, 2014, at the Sanctuary of the Ohio Valley. Born July 20, 1923, and raised in Brooksville, Bracken County, Ky., she was the daughter of the late Henry Thomas Haley and Ella Galbraith Haley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Alexander, in 2000. She was also preceded in death by three siblings, Wilburn Haley, Blanchard and Gertrude Thomas. She is survived by her four children and spouses, Ronnie (Shirley) Henson, of Falmouth Ky., Jean (Bruce) Barrow, of Dayton, Tom (Sandy) Wellman, of Dunbar, W.Va., and Patty (Bill) Dunfee, of Warren, Ind. She is also survived by her 10 grandchildren who lovingly referenced her as “Granny,” Elonda Henson, Joe (Rena) Barrow, Paige Barrow, Todd (Kelli) Dunfee, Tracy (Mark) Hamrick, Jim (Jenny) Wellman, Jonathon (Lisa) Barrow, Tricia Houser, Amy Brunty and Adam Moore. She was also the loving great-grandmother of 15, Tristan (Derek) Williams, Jaden, Alexandra, Joey, Lamond, Lane, Kelsey, Tyler D., Margot, True, Tyler B., Abby, Brianna, Makayla and Camilla. She was lucky to have been blessed with two very special great-great grandsons, Leo Thomas Williams and Colton Beau Gillespie, to give her five generations of love. She is also survived by two sisters, Imogene Jacobs, of Falmouth, Ky., and Betty Barnes, of Paris, Ky. Visitation will be after 9:30 a.m. until noon on Thursday at O’Keefe Baker Funeral Home. Graveside committal will be at 2 p.m. in Bracken Cemetery in Brooksville, Ky.

 

 

Earl McFann

Earl Lee McFann, 54, of Pedro, died Sunday, March 30, 2014, at his residence. He was born Aug. 16, 1959, in Lawrence County to the late Edwin McFann and Phyllis Ann Butler McFann. He was a pipeline inspector for Kestrel Engineer, a member of Labors Local 83 in Portsmouth, a member of Southern Ohio Coon Hunters Association and a member of Treeing, Walking and Breeders Association.

He is survived by his wife, Leah Clement McFann, whom he married Nov. 17, 1979, in Ironton. Also surviving are three sons, Jeremiah (Amy) McFann, Brandon McFann, and Matthew (Michelle) McFann; two daughters, Amanda (Todd) McCormick and Megan McFann; one sister, Valerie King; and nine grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at the Pine Grove Freewill Baptist Church with pastor Jesse Sizemore officiating. Friends may call the church from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday. Arrangements are under the direction of Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg.

 

 

Ruth Gumbert

Ruth Charlene Gumbert, 82, of Greenup, Ky., died on Monday, March 31, 2014, at King’s Daughters Medical Center. Arrangements are pending at Carman Funeral Home.

 

 

Orpha Jarrell

Orpha Jarrell 89, of Chesapeake, died Friday, March 28, 2014, in Heartland of Riverview. Funeral services will be 11:30 a.m. Thursday at Schneider-Griffin Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Getaway Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Condolences may be expressed at www.schneidergriffin.com.

Charles F. Riffe, 73, of Flatwoods, Ky., died Monday, March 31, 2014, at Our Lady of Bellefonte Hospital in Russell, Ky. Arrangements are pending at Bailey Family Funeral Home in Flatwoods.
