PEDRO — What a difference a week makes.

Last week, the Rock Hill Redmen opened the season with a 24-1 win over the St. Joseph Flyers.

The Redmen hosted the Flyers in a rematch on Tuesday and managed to come away with a 2-0 win.

The only runs of the game came in the fourth inning.

Jack Goodwin, Jonathan Joseph and Jordan Hairston all singled for a run to begin the inning. Corey Noel bunted for a hit and Brandon Schob hit a sacrifice fly.

Schob went the first six innings to get the win. He struck out six, gave up four hits and did not walk a batter.

Levi Wilds pitched a scoreless seventh to get the save. He struck out two and did not issue a walk or hit.

“I was really pleased with the way Schob threw the ball and I like how Wilds came in and closed the game out. He came in and threw strikes,” said Rock Hill coach Barry Litteral.

Hunter Pemberton went the distance for the Flyers and took the loss. He gave up just six hits, struck out five and did not walk a batter.

“We had runners in scoring position in each of the first three innings and couldn’t come up with a key hit,” said Flyers’ coach Brent Wirzfeld.

“But we definitely played better and we didn’t have the errors or all the walks as the last time we played them. Hunter pitched a really good game and Rock Hill is a really good team.”

Joseph was 2-3 with a double to lead the Rock Hill offense. Pemberton was 2-3 for the Flyers.

Rock Hill I snow 4-0 after sweeping New Boston 14-1 and 10-0 on Saturday. The Redmen host Chesapeake on Wednesday.

The Flyers entertain Elliott County at 6 p.m. Thursday.
