Jeremiah 38 Ministries, based out of Oakland Chapel Church in Kitts Hill, will present “The Life of Christ” at 8 p.m. on Friday, May 16, and Saturday, May 17, at the Ironton High School auditorium.

One of the ministry’s directors, Donna Bowling, said 13 churches in Lawrence County and the surrounding area are involved in the production that is preceded by dinner from 5-7:30 p.m.

The drama portrays the life of Jesus from birth through his resurrection and it is not a production for the squeamish.

“Because of the nature of the show and the way it is performed it is recommended children under 8 years old not be in attendance,” Bowling said. “If a young child does attend and gets upset it will be hard for them to leave quickly because the actors perform in the aisles as well.”

Tickets for the Friday, May 16, dinner are $12 and are still available. The Saturday, May 17, dinner and show is sold out but Bowling is compiling a waiting list for people wanting to attend Saturday’s show. Tickets for Saturday’s dinner and show, if and when they become available, are $15.

Bowling said 100 percent of the proceeds from the event go toward Jeremiah 38 Ministries’ three seven- to 10-day medical mission trips scheduled this year. The ministry is taking its usual mission trips to Peru and Honduras, but a third trip to Nicaragua has been added this year.

“On our medical missions we offer clinics where doctors and nurses give out medicine,” Bowling said. “But we also offer one-on-one spiritual counseling.”

Call Bowling at 740-643-0282 to reserve a seat for Friday or be added to waiting list for Saturday’s show.

Those attending the dinner are encouraged to take a seat in the auditorium after eating to clear seating for other diners.
