SOUTH POINT — The end result equals the sum of all parts.

With the entire lineup contributing, the South Point Lady Pointers beat the Fairland Lady Dragons 13-5 Wednesday in an Ohio Valley Conference game.

“We had hits in all parts of the lineup with Abbey Winkler, Haley Rawlins and Sylvia Griffith each getting the hits we needed at the most opportune time,” said Lady Pointers’ coach Tanner Heaberlin.

South Point (8-5, 5-1) had 12 hits to back the pitching of Kaitlyn Brown who also went 2-4 at the plate.

Haley Rawlins was 3-3 with a double, Sylvia Griffith 2-3 with a double and a triple, and Abbey Winkler and Emilee Powell 2-4 each.

“Halie Powell made some huge defensive plays in the latter innings and Kaitlyn pitched well again. It was a total team effort,” said Heaberlin.

South Point jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the first inning.

Winkler doubled, Hannah Carey and Rawlins walked and Griffith had a three-run triple. Andi Kleinman reached on an error for a run and Brown and Emilee Powell had RBI singles.

The lead went to 8-0 in the second when Rawlins singled, Griffith was hit by a pitch, Kleinman walked and Brown had a two-run double.

Fairland made it 8-2 in the top of the fourth when Caitlin Stone reached on an error, Mollie Morris had an RBI double and Mackenzie Riley a run-scoring single.

But South Point got a run back in the bottom of the inning when Rawlins doubled and Kleinman singled.

Each team scored three runs in the fifth.

Morris had a two-run single and Ellen Hinshaw an RBI double for Fairland. Griffith doubled home two runs and an error gave South Point its runs.

Bonnie Hileman walked and scored on a hit by Winkler for the final South Point run in the sixth.
