CHESAPEAKE — Blake Lester might want to change his name to Blank Lester.

Lester blanked the Fairland Dragons on just two hits over six innings before giving way to his bullpen as the Chesapeake Panthers posted a 5-1 Ohio Valley Conference win Friday.

Lester struck out six and walked one to get the win.

Jacob Eddy and Bobby Arthur singled to start a three-run third inning for the Panthers (8-9, 4-3).

Tough-luck losing pitcher Collin Damron pitched a five-hitter. He struck out seven, walked two, hit a batter and all five runs were unearned.

After a force out at third base, Casey McComas was safe on a throwing error and pinch-runner Wes Stevens scored.

Koton Webb hit into a fielder’s choice for a run and McComas came home on a Collin Damron pitched a five-hitter in taking the loss. He struck out seven, walked two, hit a batter and all five runs were unearned.

The lead went to 5-0 in the fifth.

With one out, McComas reached a dropped third strike. Webb walked and both moved up on a wild pitch. Joe Bias delivered a two-run single.

Fairland avoided the shutout with a run in the seventh.

Tyler Campbell singled with one out and Garrett Scheibelhood had a two-out RBI single to score pinch-runner Hayden James.

Jacob Henson was 2-3 for Chesapeake.

The Panthers visit Ironton on Monday.
