FRANKLIN FURNACE — This just doesn’t seem to be my day.

That’s the way the St. Joseph Flyers must have felt after the Green Bobcats used a walk-off home run by Caleb Johnson to post a 6-4 win Tuesday in eight innings.

“Both teams played really well. We just game up short. We got good pitching and decent fielding, we just can’t catch a break,” said Flyers’ coach Brent Wirzfeld.

The Flyers (2-11) went up 1-0 in the top of the first. Joseph Payton singled, stole second and scored on a hit by Chris Lewis.

Green (10-8) tied the game in the bottom of the inning on a double by Clay Applegate and John Hallem’s base hit.

The Bobcats got single runs in the second and third innings to lead 3-1.

Josh Clark, Johnson and Applegate singled for a run in the second. Carver and Matt Howard had doubles in the third.

The Flyers got within 3-2 in the fifth. Trey Young singled, pinch-runner Alexander Ward stole second and Brad Rist had an RBI single.

Green got a run in the bottom of the inning on a single by Hallem, Carver’s double, a walk and a hit batter.

St. Joseph scored two in the sixth to tie the game.

Hunter Pemberton and Payton singled to put runners on the corners. A throwing error scored Pemberton and then Bryson Adkins singled in a run to tie the game.

But with two outs in the bottom of the eighth. Hallem reached on an error and Johnson hit the first pitch for a two-run homer to end the game.

Payton, Lewis and Adkins were all 2-4 to lead the Flyers.
