AID — The Symmes Valley offense proved to be quite a hit.

The Vikings pounded out 10 hits as they won the Division IV sectional with a 6-4 victory over the Miller Falcons Tuesday.

“We didn’t play bad. We had one bad inning and made a few silly mistakes, but other than that we hit the ball and played pretty well,” said Vikings’ coach Chad Renfroe.

Symmes Valley (18-3) will play Paint Valley at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Chillicothe Paint Stadium in the district.

Dillon McFann went the final five innings to get the win. He struck out four, walked two and gave up just one hit.

The Vikings jumped in front 3-0 in the first inning.

Seth Jarrell walked, Tanner Mays singled and McFann doubled in a run. Jacob Easthom reached on an error for a run and Cameron Meadows singled in the third run.

Miller (7-13) took a 4-3 lead in the third.

Austin Doughty, Chris Gamble and Hunter Starlin all singled for a run. Two errors led to two runs and Garrett Bartley singled in a run.

The Vikings regained the lead for good with two runs in the fourth.

Meadows was safe on a fielder’s choice, Jonathan Kouns singled and two passed balls scored a run. Trent Thompson capped the rally with an RBI single.

Symmes Valley added an insurance run in the fifth when McFann and Easthom singled to put runners on the corners and Meadows hit a sacrifice fly.

McFann, Easthom and Kouns all went 2-3 for the Vikings.
