Being a civic organization can have many challenges, and having an event can present many obstacles because of the unknowns. This can be especially true for an upstart civic organization.

However, the new organization People for the Point put on a show for everyone this past weekend at the South Point Park.

The lineup had something for everyone from auto enthusiasts to music and everything in between. Those events featured a 5k powder run, dog show, eating contests and showed off a variety of vendors.

This is an event that provides many positives for a community who has had an absence like this for many years.

All those involved should be commended for their efforts and bringing this event to life.

It not only provided an outlet for families, but it allowed for the community to come together and enjoy a day and show their support.

The community of South Point should also be commended for tremendous support showed for the event, as this can become a staple and turn into an annual event destination like many others throughout the region.

While there were lessons learned from this year, rest assured the organization is excited about the possibilities and is planning next year’s event already.
