Mudcats win 4th tourney; advance to Cooperstown

BROOKVILLE — The Kentucky Mudcats won the Brookville Bash Baseball 12U Tournament at Golden Gate Park held June 28-29.

The marks the Mudcats fourth tournament championship in five attempts this season.

During the two-day event, the Mudcats dominated against teams from the Columbus, Cincinnati and Dayton areas.

The Mudcas never trailed in any of their five games as they won pool play by scores of 7-2 and 11-1 and earning the top-seed going into the single elimination championship round.

In the championship game, the Mudcats routed the Enon Knights 18-3 in just four innings.

The tournament wins brought the Mudcats record this summer to 37-4.

The team will compete in the Cooperstown All-Star Village in New York July 11-18.

Team members include Beau Brownstead, Collin Freeman and Isaac Whaley from Ironton. Also on the team are Brayden Davis and Luke Lindamood from Minford, Jacob Heighton, Seth Mills, Kirk Pence, Braydon Shore and Chase Thornsberry of Raceland, Ky., and Jake Gregg of Ashland, Ky.

The Mudcats are coached by former Rock Hill boys’ basketball coach Marty Mills.
