Bobby Wilson

Bobby Wade Wilson, 81, of Kitts Hill, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014. The Lawrence County native was born on Jan. 20, 1933, son to Green and Ethel Simpson Wilson, of Linnville. Bobby was also preceded in death by his wife, Carol Jean Ross Wilson, who passed away on Dec. 8, 1997.

Bobby was a member of the Plumbers and Pipefitters Local No. 577, where he worked and retired after 45 years of service. He was an honorably discharged veteran who served during the Korean conflict.

Bobby is survived by his son, Frederick E. Wilson; daughter-in-law, Patricia A. Wilson; granddaughter, Eva R. Wilson; and grandson, Alexander W. Wilson, all of who reside in Orlando, Fla.

He was a devoted husband and father who taught honesty, hard work and humility. He was loved by all who knew him and will be greatly missed.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Phillips Funeral Home with the Rev. James Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Sugar Creek Cemetery and visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

 

Jewel Johnson

Jewel V. Johnson, 91, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at her residence. The Ironton native was born Aug. 18, 1922, a daughter of the late William and Clara Payne Parson. She was preceded in death by her husband, Milton Porter Barnhart.

Ms. Johnson was a graduate of Kitts Hill High School and a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary. She was a former stockroom manager for the S.S. Kresge Company for 23 years, retiring in 1984 and a former home companion for the COAD. She was a member of the Fairview Baptist Church in Wilgus.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a brother and two half-sisters.

She is survived by a stepson, James Barnhart, of Urbana; two step grandchildren, Jeffrey (Tracy) Barnhart, of Urbana; and Regina (Paul) Main, of Elwood City, Pa.; five step great-grandchildren; and 10 step great-great-grandchildren.

Jean Harris

Jean A. Harris, 65, of Ironton, passed away Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at her residence. The Lawrence County native was born May 16, 1949, a daughter of the late Lester Eugene and Diana Davidson Keaton.

Ms. Harris was a graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and a member of the Arabia Baptist Church. She was a former assembler for Cabletron and former employee of Easter Seals.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Jessica Lynn Mathews; and her first love and lifelong friend, Richard L. Harris.

She is survived by a daughter, Rebecca “Becky” (Glen) Campbell, of Coal Grove; a son, Richard “Boo” Harris, of Ironton; a brother, Ralph “Rock” (Connie) Keaton, of Ironton; a sister, Jenni (Randy) Bellomy, of Ironton; two granddaughters, Heather Mathews, of Gallipolis, and Hayley Mathews, of Columbus; two stepgrandchildren, Lucas Campbell and Chad Campbell, both of Coal Grove; two nephews, Mike Neville and Jarrod Keaton; her special niece, Brittany Bellomy; two great-nieces, Khylee Keaton and Kenadee Keaton; a great-nephew, Karder Keaton; and her caregiver for the past 10 years, Dee Sexton McKenzie.

Funeral services will be noon Friday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Ron Henderson officiating. Burial will be in Highland Memorial Gardens and visitation will be 11 a.m. Friday until the time of service at the funeral home. Earl Mannon

Earl Otis Mannon, 88, of Proctorville, died Tuesday, July 22, 2014, at home. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville by pastor Jack Rankin. Burial will follow in Crown City Cemetery. Proctorville VFW Post 6878 will conduct military graveside rites. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Paul McKnight

Paul Eugene “Gene” McKnight, 87, of Ironton, died Monday, July 21, 2014, at SOMC in Portsmouth. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at the Tracy Brammer-Monroe Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Woodland Cemetery with military graveside rites by the VFW Post 8850 and visitation will be Saturday from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at the funeral home. Carrie Lovelace

Carrie Lovelace, 62, of South Point, died Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. Graveside services will be 1 p.m. Saturday at Aid Cemetery with the Rev.
