David Bryant

Feb. 19, 1964 — July 25, 2014

David Vance Bryant, 50, of Ironton, passed away Friday, July 25, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center’s Ironton Campus. The Ironton native was born Feb. 19, 1964, a son of Nora “Edith” McGuire Bryant, of Coal Grove, and the late Larry Bryant.

David was a 1982 graduate of Dawson-Bryant High School and Collins Career Center. David was a member of Community Missionary Baptist Church in Deering. He was an electrician at CSX in Huntington, W.Va., and the president of his local union IBEW No. 549. He enjoyed being outdoors and working at his home place. David enjoyed attending farm sales and auctions and especially loved playing with and teaching his four grandsons.

In addition to his father, he is preceded in death by a daughter, Kalista Bryant; a sister, Telisa Humphrey; a sister, Leochia Harmon; and a brother-in-law, David McKinney.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by a daughter, Jessica Bryant, of Kitts Hill; a daughter, Leah Bryant, and her fiancée, Randy Roberts, of Ironton; a son, Jared “Colten” Bryant, of Ironton; four grandchildren, Brady, Landon, Logan and Lukas; a sister, Thalia (Terry) Neal, of South Point; a sister, Jeannie McKinney, of Ironton; a sister, Millie (Tony) Lykins, of Ironton; a sister, Cirilda (Steve) Dean, of South Point; a sister, Bonnie (Doug) Malone, of Ironton; a sister, Dequilla (Steve) Belcher, of Ironton; a brother, Gregory Bryant, of Ironton; a fiancée, Joanne Watts, and her children, Clayton and Lauren Watts; a special friend, Todd Blankenship; and a host of nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.

Funeral services will be noon on Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton. Burial will follow in Community Cemetery and visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Monday at Phillips Funeral Home. To offer condolences to the family, please visit www.phillipsfuneralhome.net.

 

 

Rebecca Lester

Dec. 6, 1951 — July 24, 2014

Rebecca Ann McClellan Lester, 62, of Ironton, passed away Thursday, July 24, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Huntington, W.Va. The Ironton native was born Dec. 6, 1951, a daughter of the late Wilbur Thomas and RoseAnn Brannigan McClellan. She is survived by her husband of 22 years, Timothy Newton Lester, whom she married Sept. 26, 1991.

Rebecca was a graduate of St. Joseph High School and a member of the St. Lawrence O’Toole Catholic Church in Ironton. She was a workshop specialist for the Lawrence County Board of DD and enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and taking them swimming. She also loved traveling.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a niece, Carrie Coenen.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by a daughter, Andrea Burton, of Ironton; a stepdaughter, Tammy (Jimmy) Perry, of Crown City; a stepson, Thomas (Robin) Lester, of Clarksville, Tenn.; a brother, Timothy McClellan, of Rogers, Ark.; a special sister-in-law, Arlene McClellan, of Ironton; two grandchildren, Ian Thomas Farrow and Ivy Ann Farrow, both of Ironton; the father of her grandchildren, Mark Farrow, of Ironton; four step grandchildren; one step great-grandchild; and a niece, nephew and six great-nephews.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014, in Calvary Cemetery with the Father David Huffman officiating. To follow the procession to the cemetery please be at Phillips Funeral Home, 1004 S. Seventh St. in Ironton, by 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Mother Alease Belcher

Mother Alease Roberta Reid Belcher, 84, of South Point, died Thursday July 24, 2014, at Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland, Ky. Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at Greater Love Temple in South Point. Burial will be in Miller Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at the church. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville assisted the family with arrangements. Marvin Layne

Marvin Leon Layne, 65, of South Point, husband of Kathryn Yvonne Cumpston Layne, died Friday, July 25, 2014, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

 

 

Joseph Gleichauf

Joseph Anthony Gleichauf, 80, of Huntington, W.Va., died Thursday, July 24, 2014, at the Emogine Dolin Hospice House. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Inurnment will be at Spring Hill Cemetery. Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. today at Chapman’s Mortuary with recital of the Rosary at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
