Ironton golfers second at Hilltop; Panthers top Pointers

SEAMAN — The Ironton Fighting Tigers golf team placed second at the Hilltop Quad Match on Monday.

Ironton had a 191-team score to tie Portsmouth Clay behind host North Adams 189 total. The Wheelersburg Pirates were at 194 in the tightly contested match.

Cory Rawlins first a 47 to lead Ironton while Jaylen Thornhill, Mitchell Weisgarber and Chandler Dodson were all one shot back at 48. Mason Slagel carded a 53.

North Adams was paced by Patrick England with a 43. Bryant Lung shot a 45, Braxton McFarland 50 while Corey McClellan and Noah Lung each had a 51.

Portsmouth Clay got a 40 from Wyatt Large and Taylor Swayne shot a 46. Arron Phipps had a 51 while Connor Phipps and Isaac Hinze each shot a 54.

Wheelersburg’s Mitchell McFarland took medalist honors with a 33. Nik Jones had a 52, Brandon Adams 54, Nate McLaughlin 55 and Ryan Jones 56.

Ironton hosts Jackson on Wednesday.

Panthers get win

BARBOURSVILLE, W.Va. — The Chesapeake Panthers beat the South Point Pointers in a dual golf match Monday at Esquire Golf Course.

Jake Stevens was the medalist with a 41 to lead the Panthers who had a 185 team score. Austin Hutchison and Kobe McWhortr each shot a 48 and Jacob Eddy carded a 50.

South Point had a 220 score with Barbara Collins and Logan Wade each recording a 50 total. Tyler Porter shot a 55, Beau Taylor 65 and Mackenzie Evans-Schweikart 72.
