Chesy girls open with busy week

CHESAPEAKE — The opening week was busy for Chesapeake’s volleyball team as the Lady Panthers played five matches.

On Monday, Chesapeake beat Fairview (Ky.) in five games, 25-21, 25-27, 25-12, 10-15 and 15-11. Kelsey Huff scored 19 points in the win.

Chesapeake won the reserve match 21-12, 21-10 with Mckenna Curry getting nine points.

On Tuesday, Chesapeake swept the Symmes Valley Lady Vikings 25-12, 25-18 and 25-21. Carley Lester racked up 21 points in the win.

The Lady Panthers won the reserve game 23-25, 25-15 and 25-20. Natalee Hall had 12 points to lead Chesapeake.

The Lady Panthers’ varsity played in the South Point Tournament on Saturday.

Chesapeake lost 14-25, 24-26 to East Carter (Ky.). Melanie Noble had eight points for the Lady Panthers.

In the second game, the Lady Panthers downed Rock Hill 25-17, 24-26 and 25-18 as Lester scored 13 points.

The final match was a 21-25, 18-25 loss to Russell (Ky.) with Laura Rice and Lester scoring six points each.

Chesapeake plays at Ironton on Tuesday.
