Scavenger hunt good for city

In keeping with the momentum that Ironton has gained in restoring its downtown scene, residents will soon have the opportunity to reap rewards by simply visiting local businesses.

Ironton aLive has organized a scavenger hunt that will take participants all over downtown in search of 10 specific posters, which, if found, will enter that participant into a drawing for prizes.

The idea behind the “I”Town Scavenger Hunt is simple: Get people through the doors of downtown shops. What better way to do that than by offering a friendly competition and rewards?

All one has to do to participate in the scavenger hunt is to pick up an entry form at the Farmers Market on Sept. 6 and return it by Sept 20. Those who complete the hunt will have their names entered into a drawing for “Ironton Bucks,” which can be spent in participating local shops.

This is a win-win for small business owners and local residents alike. The hunt will bring people to town to support the local economy while those shoppers will have the opportunity see the restoration happening in Ironton.

We think Ironton aLive, as well as other groups, has made great strides in revitalizing the downtown area, but it will take the entire community coming together to keep progress moving forward.

The “I”Town Scavenger Hunt is just one of the many ways to accomplish that.
