SOUTH POINT — SP was too much for SP.

Sydney Payne scored the game’s first two goals and had an assist to lead the St. Joseph Female Flyers 4-1 soccer win over the South Point Lady Pointers Wednesday.

Lynsey Booker also had two goals and an assist for St. Joseph. Both her goals came in the second half.

Emma Saxby and Ariel Porter both had an assist for the Female Flyers.

Payne’s goal came in the first half off assists from Booker and Porter.

“It was another slow start tonight, but te girls kept working and got better as the game progressed,” said Female Flyers’ coach Kyle Weatherholt.

“It was a good, physical game. South Point didn’t back down from challenges. It was a good test for our girls to have to compete and fight for every ball.”

Booker and Saxby clicked on a goal to start the second half and then Booker and Payne combined on the final St. Joseph goal.

“It took us a little while to adjust to the speed of the ball on turf. In the second half we finally settled in and started keeping the ball for longer stretches and putting some nice passing combinations together,” said Weatherholt.

The Female Flyers (4-0) play at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Wheelersburg.
