PORTSMOUTH — The St. Joseph Flyers did all but two things: score and win.

The Flyers out-shot Portsmouth Clay but the Panthers came away with a 1-0 soccer win Thursday.

The game was scoreless at the half.

“The boys played hard and well as a team. We just couldn’t finish and got shutout,” said Flyers’ coach Mike Balestra.

St. Joseph had 25 shots on goal to 16 for Clay. Each team had four corner kicks and the Flyers had four offside penalties and Clay had none.

St. Joseph goalkeeper Bradley Rist had eight saves.

The Flyers (2-2-1) host Chesapeake at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
