PROCTORVILLE — A fast start left little doubt about the outcome.

The St. Joseph Female Flyers jumped out to a 6-0 first half lead and coasted to a 10-1 soccer win over the Fairland Lady Dragons on Saturday.

“We played some really nice soccer today,” said Female Flyers’ coach Kyle Weatherholt. “We got off to a quick start with a goal in the first five minutes, then we stayed consistent throughout the game. And the defense was strong once again.”

Sidney Payne had two goals and three assists, Lynsey Booker scored three goals, and Emma Saxby had a goal and an assist to help spark the Female Flyers.

Ophelia Weatherholt added a goal and two assists while Kaylee Sheridan, Chloe Porter and Emma Williams all scored unassisted goals.

“Sidney Payne, Lynsey Booker and Emma Saxby are really starting to get in sync with each other in the attack,” said Weatherholt.

“They’re making good runs and finding each other well. They’re also making good decisions on when to pass and when to take defenders on in one-on-one situations. Emma did a great job of beating defenders, then putting nice crosses into the box.”

The Female Flyers — who received votes in the Ohio soccer coaches’ weekly Division III poll — play at Portsmouth West on Monday.
