PROCTORVILLE — Another rain shortened game and another win for the St. Joseph Flyers.

The Flyers had their soccer game at Fairland called with 21 minutes to play on Saturday due to inclement weather, but they held an overwhelming 9-0 lead.

St. Joseph beat Chesapeake last week 4-1 when rain forced an early stoppage.

“We played well. Offensively we were patient, we had quality touches and controlled the ball,” said Flyers’ coach Mike Balestra.

“Defensively we were well organized and didn’t bend. This was a great team effort.”

Tre’ Neal and Peyton Adkins scored three goals each while Wulf Goheen scored two goals and Chris Lewis added another.

Blake Balestra and Zach McGraw had assists while goalkeeper Joey Bush recorded five saves.

St. Joseph (4-2-1) had 25 shots on goal to 10 for Fairland. The Flyers had four corner kicks and the Dragons one.

The Flyers had two offside penalties and Fairland none.

St. Joseph plays at 8 p.m. Tuesday at unbeaten South Point.
