Patriotism should be revived

As we move toward the anniversary of the one of the worst life-changing events in America’s history, the country again faces the possibility of potentially being involved in a conflict.

This, in addition to the country having a major political divide, puts America in a very contentious position.

One thing is certain, however, and that is we must never forget how we felt on September 11, 2001.

Those emotions ranged from astonishment to anger followed by sorrow. Nonetheless, as the days and weeks passed, those emotions transitioned to an abundance of patriotism and unison in our American pride.

Many, if not all, political and philosophical differences were set aside as Americans became unified.

While the 9/11 anniversary should forever be about reflecting and remembering those nearly 3,ooo lives who were lost, we should also take the time to recall the founding principles of our country and what America stands for.

Those founding fathers set the standard for bravery and selflessness and based the foundation on certain principles that paved the way for the future of our country.

Ultimately, in order for our country to prosper again, we need to revive that patriotism that seems to have waned.
