SOUTH POINT — Once the South Point Pointers found the net, they kept going back.

The Pointers started slow before they finally got their offense going in a 7-1 win over the feisty St. Joseph Flyers Tuesday in a soccer game.

“(St. Joseph) definitely had a defensive game plan and they executed it pretty well. We struggled at times but we were finally able to find the net,” said Pointers’ coach Zane Joy.

Brady Sloan finally scored on a free kick at the 16:00 mark of the first half to put the Pointers ahead. Matt Krivan followed with a pair of unassisted goals in a two-minute period and it was 3-0 at the half.

Micah Harris had an unassisted goal and Trey Kearns scored with an assist by Krivan and it was 5-0 at the 58:00 mark.

St. Joseph made it 5-1 on a goal by Chris Lewis, but the Pointers got goals from Liam Huff and Jake Helton in the final minutes of the game.

Brady Rickard had one save for the Pointers who are now 6-0. Joey Bush had 14 saves for the Flyers (4-3-1).

The Pointers host Fairland on Thursday with a girls’ game at 6 p.m. and the boys at 8 p.m.

St. Joseph visits Fairland next Tuesday.
