CHESAPEAKE — If you’re going to play poker, don’t go against Jordan Hannan.

She’s all aces.

In Thursday’s volleyball game at Chesapeake, the Ironton Lady Fighting Tigers’ junior not only scored 30 points but had a state record 16 ace serves. She also had 33 assists despite a five-set loss, 14-25, 25-17, 25-16, 22-25 and 7-15.

“It was definitely a battle in which we came up a little short. The girls put up a good fight. A little inexperience hurt us in the end,” said Lady Tigers’ coach Beth Campbell.

“However, we are getting better each game and the kids are working hard in practice for better results in games. Jordan Hannan had an unbelievable game.”

Taylor Hannan had 16 points. Lexie Wise had 11 kills, Lexie Washington 9 kills and Macy Wise 7 kills.

Tori Starr and Lexie Wise had 21 digs each while Washington had 7 blocks.

Jozy Jones led Chesapeake with 22 served points, 4 coming in the tiebreaker. Carley Lester had 11 points and Mariah Frye 8 points, 3 in the fifth set.

“When you look at stats such as the ones we put up, you would think a victory is in order, but Chesapeake did a nice job and put up some good numbers, too,” said Campbell.

Ironton visits Coal Grove at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday and hosts Fairland at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.
