Pointers topple Panthers

CHESAPEAKE — The South Point Pointers used a strong first half to down the Chesapeake Panthers 5-2 Tuesday in a soccer game.

South Point (10-1) took a 1-0 lead quickly as Matt Krivan scored off an assist from Alex Whitt in the fifth minutes.

Chesapeake came back to score two goals including a goal by Logan McCloud with an assist by Wesley Stephens.

But the Pointers scored three times before the half to take a 4-2 lead.

Jake Helton got a goal in the 18th minutes with an assist by Merrick Harris.

Krivan scored again with an assist by Trey Kearns seven minutes later.

Helton’s goal thanks to an assist by Harris at 34:00 capped the first half scoring.

The Pointers’ final goal was scored by Caleb Collins with an assist from Liam Huff in the 60th minutes.

Brady Rickard had four saves for the Pointers.

South Point visits St. Joseph at 5:30 p.m. Thursday.

In the night’s first game, South Point’s girls beat Chesapeake 3-0.
