Robert Smith

Robert Justin Smith Sr., 95, of Logan, formerly of Fostoria and Ironton, passed away Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at the Pickering House, Lancaster.

Born on Dec. 2, 1918, in Bucyrus, he was the son of the late Lyman and Alice J. (Phillips) Smith.

Robert worked as a purchasing clerk for ExCelo Corporation in Fostoria. He was a 50-year member of Fostoria Baptist Church.

He is survived by one son, Robert Justin “Bob” Smith Jr., of Logan; four grandchildren, Jay Smith of New Mexico, Jed Smith of Mt. Sterling, Michigan, Justin Smith of Reynoldsburg and Jessica Smith of Columbus; and one sister, JoAnn of Fostoria.

Besides his parents he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Myrtle Clair (Triplett) Smith in 2013; one brother, Carl Smith; and one sister, Madge Nye.

Billy Bocook

Billy Edward Bocook, 77, of Wheelersburg, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at Ohio State University Hospital East in Columbus.

Born Sept. 7, 1937, in Catlettsburg, Kentucky, a son of the late Marshal and Carrie (Wilson) Bocook, he was owner of Bocook Garage in Wheelersburg, a member of South Webster Baptist Church and a Navy veteran.

He is survived by his wife, Gale N. (Wright) Bocook, whom he married on July 1, 1960, in Scioto County; a son, Billy (Kelly) Bocook; a daughter, Susan Kay Cole; five grandchildren, Jason Cole, Jesica Cole, Nick (Heather) Bocook, Josh (Jeni) Bocook, Miranda (Dan) Sutton; 10 great grandchildren; and three sisters, Carol Mays, Patty Lavender and Marsha Bocook.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Joe Bocook.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Harrison-Pyles Funeral Home in Wheelersburg. Burial will be in Memorial Burial Park in Wheelersburg. Friends may call at the funeral home from 5-8 p.m. today and one hour prior to the service on Monday. Graveside military rites will be conducted at Memorial Burial Park.

 

 

Margaret Jones

Margaret L. “Margie” Jones, 72, of South Point, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at her residence. She was the wife of Danny L. Jones. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home, South Point. Burial will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, South Point. Michael Harmon

Michael S. Harmon, 59, of Athalia, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington. A graveside service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Monday at Miller Memorial Gardens Miller, by pastor Brady Lipscomb. There will be no visitation. Ida Knight

Ida Barker Knight, 90, of Chesapeake, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at home. Funeral service will be conducted at 4 p.m. Monday at Hall Funeral Home and Crematory, Proctorville, by pastor Clyde Carter. Daniel Scott McMaster, 45, of Proctorville, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington. James Turnbill

James Leroy Turnbill, 61, of Huntington, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center, Huntington. Frances Cogan

Frances Marie Cogan, 79, of South Point, passed away Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at the Community Hospice Care Center in Ashland. The Scioto County native was born April 15, 1935, a daughter of the late Walter and Ella Prince Daniel. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Jake Cogan, who passed away Sept. 29, 2009.

Mrs. Cogan was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of the South Point United Methodist Church and currently a member of the South Point Church of the Nazarene. She was a loving mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She loved to cook, bake and care for her family.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by a sister, Ruby Klaiber; a brother, Roy Daniel; an infant brother, Carl Eugene Daniel; and a granddaughter, Deborah Kilver.

She is survived by three daughters, Connie (Michael) Hardy, of Kokomo, Indiana, Carol (Fred) Kilver and Christie (Randy) Keffer, all of South Point; a son, Carlton (Mary) Cogan of South Point; eight grandchildren, Christopher Hardy, Elizabeth Kilver Goodrich, Jacob Kilver, Rebecca Kilver, Anna Keffer Elkins, Andrew Keffer, Jake Cogan, and Maddie Cogan; five great grandchildren, Brooke Wininger, Evangeline Goodrich, Avery Elkins, Joseph Andrew Keffer, and Seraphine Goodrich; and two sisters, Patty (Don) Voiers of Ironton and Shirley (Dale) Neal of Wheelersburg.

Funeral services will be noon Tuesday at Phillips Funeral Home with pastor Pete Shaffer and pastor Robert Carter officiating.
