Sharen Ann McKee

Aug. 24, 1943 — Oct. 25, 2014

 

Sharen Ann McKee, 71, passed away Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at her home in Leatherwood, surrounded by her family. She was born Aug. 24, 1943, in Ironton, to the late Lawrence William Kline and Jennie Ethyl Ferrell Kline.

Sharen was a 1961 graduate of Ironton High School and a former nurse’s aide for several medical facilities in the Tri-State. Although she worked outside the home, her passion was caring for her family and friends. Sharen was also an active member at Leatherwood Missionary Baptist Church.

Survivors include her husband of 50 years, Eddie McKee; sons, William (Bill) McKee, of South Point, Brent McKee (Jessica), of Ironton, and Bryce McKee (Julie), of Deering; sisters, Ruth Bush, of Tampa, Florida, and Nancy Webb, of Ironton; five grandchildren, Evan McKee and Jerimy Allen, of Deering, Gavin, Madelyn (Mady) and Lucy McKee, of Ironton. Preceding Sharen in death was one brother, Philip Kline, of Pine Grove.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Leatherwood Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Mike Huff officiating. Burial will follow in Leatherwood Cemetery. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the church on Tuesday. John Ackerman

Jan. 21, 1964 — Oct. 23, 2014

 

John William Ackerman, 50, of Ironton, died Thursday, Oct. 23, 2014, at Cabell Huntington Hospital. He was born in Ironton on Jan. 21, 1964. He worked as a shift supervisor at Brasken and was past commander of Sons of American Legion Squadron 433 and current director of American Legion Riders Post 433 in Ironton.

Survivors include his wife, Tawnya McGillen Ackerman, of Ironton; father, John William (Bill) (Barbara) Ackerman, of Ironton; mother, Tina Reed, of St. Petersburg, Florida; two sisters, Angela (Butch) Leport and Dana (Pete) Shipley-Carter; stepbrother Wayne Campbell; stepsister Cheryl Campbell; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded by one stepbrother, Mark Campbell.

Funeral will be at Wednesday at 11 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father David Huffman officiating. Visitation will be 4-9 p.m. on Tuesday at O’Keefe-Baker Funeral. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Coal Grove.

 

 

Darlene K. Rice

Darlene K. Lyon-Rice, 67, of Flatwoods, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2014. She is survived by her husband, Larry Rice, of Flatwoods. Funeral Services will be Tuesday at 1 p.m. at Carman Funeral Home in Flatwoods with entombment following at Rosehill Burial Park in Ashland. Visitation for family and friends is 11 a.m. until service time Tuesday at the Funeral Home.

 

Teresa Altizer

Teresa Maria Altizer, 59, of Lesage, West Virginia, died Friday, Oct. 24, 2014, at the Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington. Hall Funeral Home and Crematory in Proctorville is in charge of arrangements, which are incomplete.

 

Patricia Mullins

July 27, 1935 — Oct. 25, 2014

 

Patricia Ann Mullins, 79, of Coal Grove, passed away Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at St. Mary’s Medical Center-Ironton Campus. The St. Louis, Missouri, native was born July 27, 1935, the son of the late Clarence Beaty and Virginia Feldscher Morgan. She is survived by her husband, Jarritt Mullins.

Mrs. Mullins attended Elkville High School in Illinois and was a homemaker.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Randy Porter, of Virginia, and Donnie Porter, of Oregon; a stepson, Jarritt Lee Mullins, and his wife, Margo, of Washington Courthouse; a brother and sister-in-law, Jim and Doris Beaty, of Pickneyville, Illinois; and a sister-in-law, Doris Mullins, of Shepardsville, Kentucky.

Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Phillips Funeral Home in Ironton with the Rev. Jim Cremeans officiating. Burial will follow in Rush Cemetery in Rush, Kentucky. Wanda Eaches

Dec. 3, 1930 — Oct. 24, 2014

 

Wanda J. Eaches, 83, of Ironton, passed away Oct. 24, 2014, at Oakmont Manor in Flatwoods. Wanda was born Dec. 3, 1930, in Lawrence County, a daughter of the late Andrew and Ida Sanders Shope.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Eaches; two sons, James Smith and Robert Smith; stepdaughter, Patricia Butler (Eaches); granddaughter, Amanda Hayes (Bryant); a sister, Lillian Webb Stewart; and a brother, Andrew Shope Jr.

She was very active with the senior citizens center in Ironton and loved to play bingo.

Wanda is survived by her children, Carol (Sonny) Bryant, of Portsmouth; Donna (Bob) Massey, of Belpre, Betty (Bob) Pancake, Paul Smith, Rick Smith, Bill Smith, Debbie (Clifford) Crabtree, Faye (Jerry) Hammond, all of Ironton, and Darrell (Linda) Eaches, of South Point; two stepsons, Michael (Cheryl) Eaches, of Virginia, and Tom Eaches, of Iowa; 30 grandchildren; 54 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; and three brothers, Ray Shope, Don Shope and Glen Shope. The family would like to give a special thanks to the Oakmont Manor Nursing Staff.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Slack and Wallace Funeral Home in South Point with the Rev. Leon Dalton officiating. Burial will follow in Hecla Cemetery.
