ATHENS — Symmes Valley coach Rusty Webb wants his Vikings to have short memories.

After suffering a 54-6 season-ending loss to the Danville Blue Devils on Saturday, Webb wants his team to look forward instead of in the rear view mirror.

“Even though score was what it was, our kids played hard. We had a couple of injuries but Danville played very well,” said Webb.

“We just have to shake this off and get ready for playoffs. We have a tough team in Trimble and we have to turn our focus there.”

The Vikings (6-4) play at Glouster Trimble (10-0) at 7 p.m. on Saturday in the first round of the Division VII Region 25 playoffs.

Danville quarterback Ridge Durbin was a one-man wrecking crew as he completed 19 of 35 passes for 337 yards and four touchdowns and ran nine times for 84 yards and a score.

Durbin threw three first quarter touchdowns and another in the second quarter as Danville took a 34-6 halftime lead.

Danville (6-4) finished with 506 total yards with 377 in the air and 129 on the ground.

The Vikings ran for 126 yards and quarterback Derrek Smith was 6 of 16 passing for 103 yards. His 49-yard pass to Brandon Craft set up his own 1-yard touchdown run with 1:58 left in the first half.

Craft ran 11 times for 34 yards and caught two passes for 65 yards. Smith had nine carries for 47 yards.
