Breakfast more than good meal

What do a pair of eyeglasses and a stack of pancakes have in common?

Nothing, when the two stand alone. But when the Rome, Proctorville, Chesapeake Lions Club is involved, put the two things together and you’ve got an annual event that brings the community out in droves to support a worthy cause.

This past weekend, the Lions Club, along with help from members of Operation TLC (Tidy-Up Lawrence County), followed through with tradition and had its annual pancake breakfast.

This year’s event brought more than 300 people out to support the club’s mission of improving eyesight for those in need.

The proceeds from the cost of the breakfast and placemat sponsorships go a long way to help the club pay for eye exams, eyeglasses, contact lenses, and even fund eye surgeries for adults and children who otherwise may not be able to afford those important items on their own.

It is important to support to efforts of civic groups such as the Lions Club, because with the community’s help, many more people can benefit from those charitable projects.
