Thank a veteran today

While Veterans Day may not receive the abundant attention other holidays get, it should always rank near the top of the list to us as Americans.

Today is the day we should all take time out of our busy schedules to honor those brave men and women who answered when the call was made to protect our freedoms and way of life.

All of those who served have made sacrifices, many with their lives to afford our country’s residents with the ability to live free each day.

It is also significant to teach our children and grandchildren the importance of Veterans Day so the next generation will understand the meaning and what this holiday represents to us as Americans.

While the day certainly affords us the opportunity to recognize our veterans, it is important to also remember those currently serving in our nation’s military and show our appreciation to them as well.

Although our thoughts, prayers and gratitude to those brave men and women should not be relegated to one day, just saying thank you goes a long way for those who have fought over the years to protect our nation.

You never know what a difference you are making to them.
