PROCTOVILLE — They just kept coming in waves.

The Fairland Dragons went nine deep throughout the game and outscored the Cabell Midland Knights 86-70 on Saturday in the Big E Classic.

“We played pretty well. Our depth was the difference. We were able to go nine deep and not lose anything. I think it wore (Cabell Midland) down,” said Fairland coach Nathan Speed.

Fairland (2-0) had five players in double figures led by Isaiah Howell with 25 points. Kollin Van Horn scored 14 points, Chance Short and Luke Thomas had 12 each while Gunner Short added 11.

Nathan Campbell had 10 rebounds, 5 assists and 3 steals for the Dragons. Howell also had 10 rebounds and Van Horn pulled down 6 more as Fairland dominated the glass 49-18.

Mark Wilcox scored 23 points, Colton Tilley 17 and Kirk Jennings 10 for the Knights (0-1).

Howell scored 15 points as Fairland raced to a 27-18 first quarter lead.

Howell had 7 more points in the second quarter as Fairland extended its lead to 49-30 at the half.

Thomas hit a pair of 3-pointers in the third quarter and the Dragons’ lead was 78-46.

Van Horn socred 6 points in the fourth quarter and Thomas and Gunner Short each hit key 3-pointers as Fairland prevented any comeback hopes of the Knights.

Fairland hosts Coal Grove on Tuesday.
