Gallipolis rallies past SP girls

GALLIPOLIS — The South Point Lady Pointers got off to a good start, but then the starter went bad.

Gallipolis rallied in the second quarter as they came back to beat the Lady Pointers 55-45 on Thursday.

Abbey Winkler scored 7 points and Madison Kearns had 5 points as South Point took a 15-12 first quarter lead.

But Kendra Barnes scored 8 points and Micah Curfman 7 points in the second quarter as Gallipolis outscored the Lady Pointers 20-13 to take a 32-28 halftime lead.

Curfman hit three 3-pointers and scored 11 points in the third quarter as the lead grew to 49-37.

Winkler drained a pair of triples in the fourth quarter but it was enough to rally the Lady Pointers.

Winkler finished with 18 points to lead South Point (2-4). Brooklyn Badgett had 8 pionts and Kearns 7.

Curfman had a game-high 22 points while Jordan Walker and Barnes scored 10 each for the Blue Angels (4-3).

South Point hosts its Holiday Tournament on Saturday. Symmes Valley play Lincoln County at 3 p.m., Chesapeake faces Greenup County at 5 p.m. and South Point takes on Portsmouth Notre Dame at 7 p.m.
