Blue Angels rallies to beat Redwomen

GALLIPOLIS — It was a tale of two halves.

The Rock Hill Redwomen won the first half and the Gallipolis Blue Angels won the second half.

But when the halves were added together, Gallipolis came away with a 61-49 win on Saturday.

Rock Hill held an 8-point lead at the half, but Gallipolis outscored the Redwomen 43-23 in the second half to get the win.

Kaci Russell scored 18 points before fouling out to lead the Redwomen (2-5). Anna Darby added 9 points and Madi Damron scored 8 points including a pair of 3-pointers.

Kendra Barnes scored 18 points for Gallipolis (5-3) with Aurienne Jenkins getting 13 points and Micah Curfman 11.

Rock Hill grabbed a 13-7 first quarter lead as Russell scored 6 points.

Jill Hairston had all 5 of her points in the second quarter including a trey and Darby added two baskets as Rock Hill moved in front 26-18 at the half.

But Barnes scored 8 points including a pair of 3-pointers while Curfman added 5 points and Gallipolis outscored Rock Hill 21-9 in the third quarter as the Blue Angels rallied to take a 39-35 lead.

Jenkins had 9 pionts in the fourth quarter and Gallipolis converted 8 of 10 from the foul line to seal the win.
